Final

Like a cliche, a trope is a common or over used theme or device. A revelation trope all together is probably a re-occuring theme that often happens when a revelation occurs. I can have a eureka moment but the trope would be the re-occuring events that leads to that situation. Movies like The Matrix has many revelations we all may notice and even connect to.

I recently had a revelation at home during the mid winter break as I laid in bed helpless with one leg. I am restricted from doing typical things at home just because my hands are occupied with crutches. My stamina is way low, heavily breathing after "hopping" two avenues. My arms become weary and my left leg starts to catch a cramp. I can't really travel unless i can easily take a bus there or it's not that expensive to go to on a cab. Traveling to school every morning includes eating breakfast inside a taxi, spilling my tea all over my lap. Well my revelation if you didn't already catch it, is realizing how important my legs are to my every day activities. I haven't gone out during the weekends because I am on Vicadin and I can't drink alcohol. Besides that I don't think I would be able to control myself or be coordinated to walk on crutches intoxicated. Parties are also hard to get to and I am a little uncomfortable going to a random person's home visually asking for their hospitality when the hostess is drunk.

From recent events (broken leg), I noticed that a typical trope to have a revelation is a conflict limiting your capabilities. If I didn't break my leg, I wouldn't have realized how important it was and how appreciative I should be. I am an active dude, playing sports and working out almost every other day. I didn't appreciate having both legs then so I always put my body on the line thinking that I am superman and I can be as physical as can be. This revelation of not having a pair of legs cautions me to be more careful in the future. Preventing the conflict would be another trope, more like a post trope from the revelation.

The Matrix was a heroic flick based on the evolution of "one" man. The whole world was "oblivious" that their lives were computer controlled. That their bodies were used as batteries as their minds were plugged in. Unplugged Morpheus, an obvious prophey to the underground world seeked for the "one", Neo. I believe that Neo represents the christian saviour (Jesus christ), both having extraordinary powers and great responsibilities. One man who will be expected to sacrifice himself for everyone else.

A typical revelation trope in this movie was the prophets. The propheys in The Matrix were the hero, the deep believer and the fortune teller. As the "one", neo became a prohphet due to the value and amount of responsibilities. The saviour knows he has many innocent lives in his hands. Morpheus was the first prophet intriduced in the movie and it was clear that he has years of experience. His own crew looks up at him as a father. The man who unplugged them and gave them real lives. Without Morpheus' strong beliefs in the prophecy, neo wouldn't have existed. The knowledge of the oracle (fortune teller) aid Neo's evolution. She resembled Mother Mary because she knew the "one" existed and she only needed a saint (Morpheus) to deliver him.

Unlike The Matrix, Star Wars had many prophets and heroes. A classic battle between good and evil, the movie was also full of revelation tropes proving male dominance. Many sexual references came up such as the light saver being a penis. Light savers were mostly used by male Jedis. It's also pretty funny that Jedis are also capable of using their light saver with their eyes closed. The clip of the father and son battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, showed the father's dominance over his son. During the battle Luke Skywalker cringes and his hand was severed. Darth Vader's constant attacks and Luke's fear of being castrated made Darth Vader look like a dominant father figure.

As a new Yorker I have adapted the skill to fit almost everything in one scheduled day and walking extremely fast. I am currently realizing that I have never really stopped to smell the roses. I have never taken any classes to relieve stress and all that stress has grown out through the roots of my hair. It is a bit unnoticable but I have strands of gray hair. Breathing exercises which I now do at home, has helped me calm down and has also helped me think about life and how it runs me. Pain in my body were sometimes ignored because I use to believe that pain is something that will just go away. I was wrong. Through excercising, being sexually active and playing sports I was embodied. Ignoring pains and other pleasures like enjoying breathing proved that my lifestyle was unhealthy. Even if the air in NY is highly polluted, i enjoy talking walks. During those walks I try to sense all of my feelings all over my body. I sometimes even tell my friends that my feet feels wierd after walking with them. My past experiences of ignoring those sensations molded me into a robot and now my mind is more open to how my body feels. Now a days I analyze pain and i try to relax my muscles after a long day in my bed.

My unhealthy habits in the past created a robot but, now I am more open consciously and subconsciously. I try to share my dreams with my sister almost everyday even if I feel like she doesn't want to listen and after or even during eating I try to close my eyes to feel every sensation. i sometimes think I can follow where the food is traveling. I have been more aware of my bodies capabilities helping adavance in exercising. The more I think about my past, the more I figure out how much I have changed for the better and worse. My behaviour has shown improvement because I have freed my mind of ridiculous stress.
